My new album will be released to Patrons this year
as the music is completed, before its public release in 2022.
I am putting myself on the path to creating music full time and
I need your support.
Please consider throwing your loose change at me-
it allows the music happen.
Thank you!! Janice
|My singing voice has been silent for 9 years.
In 2010, I spent 1300 hours singing The Smiths Project acapella because I had the time. I haven't had that kind of time since, but I've thought about it every day. Last year, the pandemic gave me time (temporarily!) to make new music and now I can't go back to my old life of silence. You can hear new music snippets in the video above. That post-pandemic return to normal life/job is just around the corner, so it's time to make big changes. I'm focusing my energy where my heart is and taking a big leap onto the path I'm supposed to be on. For all these years, I've dreamed about singing while working, being a mom, selling my vegan cheese at the farmer’s market, and generally doing everything I can think of to support myself and still have time for music. But that method leads to exhaustion...and no new music.
But you know what? People have been helping me no matter what I do- because I asked. You buy my cheese, soap, music and whatever else I put out into the universe because you think it's worth something and you want me to succeed. You shared and supported my Smiths Project journey because you believe in me. You funded my box set because I asked. Simon Le Bon picked out his favorite Duran Duran single for me to cover because I asked. Curt Smith trusted me to create vocals for Trees, James Roday Rodriquez sang a duet with me for Curt Smith, Tom Lennon invited me over to jam. You might be thinking all those projects are super old now but they were the last songs I released (2012!). I've realized great things happened simply because I STARTED something and people saw a clear way to help.
The Smiths Project was popular, not just because people liked the music, but because there is joy in watching someone's journey to success. Over these years when I would vent my frustrations about my lack of time for music, people always asked “how can I help??” and I never had an answer because I was trying to do it all on my own. The thing is, people WANT to help- and there is relief in knowing exactly HOW to make someone's life better. I'm going to be bold and say: my music has value just like everything else I create. I'm going to be brave and ask for the right things. Please help me achieve independence from my day job by supporting my Patreon. Your kind gesture, as painless as buying me a cup of coffee, can change the course of my life. I can’t keep working the wrong jobs that take me away from my ability to create.
